Newt Gingrich is down but not out. The former House Speaker finished in fourth place with only 13% of the vote. He was suspected to win Iowa at one point, but that dream quickly crumbled.
However, fourth place isn’t the worst place to be in. During the 2008 caucuses, John McCain finished fourth in Iowa, but he eventually went on to win New Hampshire and the Republican nomination.
Just two days ago, Gingrich told the public he was going to concede from the race. However, the morning of the caucuses he decided to campaign again. Despite coming in fourth place, Gingrich plans to travel to New Hampshire to continue campaigning, hoping to snuff Mitt Romney out along the way.
