Newspoll 2022 (Updated 20th May): Differences between 2022 and 2019 Australian Election Polls

Newspoll 2022: Trend Analysis

The gap between Labor and the Coalition has fallen over the last few days. However, Labor has maintained a substantial gap on the TPP vote.

Newspoll 2022: How does it compare with 2019?

There are two major differences

  1. The dotted lines (TPP Vote) kept narrowing at this point in 2019. The gap in the TPP vote was just 3%
  2. The Coalition was ahead or on par in all the polls in April and May

Newspoll missed the TPP results by 3% points. If Newspoll repeats the error, the election is likely to end in a tie and independents will play a critical role in Government formation.
